After several years of developing websites and working with clients I have concluded that at some point in time the client will out grow the site. So, instead of having to convert a basic HTML/CSS site to Joomla why not just do it once and save a lot of time and effort later.

The biggest request I receive is to be able to update the site when needed. Many times it's just a price change, swap out an image, etc. so building a site running on a content management system such a Joomla solves their requests much more efficiently. It also provides the framework to add a forum, social feeds, photogallery, or slideshow much more quickly.

Another advantage of using a CMS is the ability to create a special feature such as the one on the French-Canadian Genealogical Society of Connecticut's website. Which is used to add Surnames to a database that the members are researching and the ability to find other members researching the same family as themselves.

Those are some of the reasons for my decision if you have any comments I would be happy to hear from you.

Joomla 3.0 Coming Soon Are You Ready?

Joomla 3.0 is coming in mid-September are you ready? If you have not updated your 1.5 version to 2.5 I can help you with that major web development undertaking.

The big difference between 1.5 and 2.5 is the database. The database gets a major overhaul which is the most significant change. What does that mean? It means you will need to install 2.5 versions of all you extension, if they are available, or find replacements.

So far I have not had any problems finding a new version of the extensions I have recommended to my clients. Which means that I do not have to rebuild any or redo any of my previous work thus a faster turn around to go live.

Generally it takes several days to convert a site, install and check to make sure the converted site is ready to live and replace the old. Contact me if you need help or want me to handle the whole project.

Checking how my site are doing in Google Webmaster, I found New England Kitchen & Bath was #1 for the search term "kitchen remodeling ct". Time to do a little bragging.
