Hebron Historical Society Reboot

This week Hebron Historical Society's site has been rebooted. The site is now running on Joomla 1.5.4 content management system.

The site has much of the same look and feel.  New options are available such as a list of all Online Documents found within each article, Upcoming Events with detailed information about each one and a new Flash driven Hebron Highlights on the homepage.

Stop by and give the site a look!

ccNewsletter - Newest Component

Need a easy but powerful newsletter component for you Joomla site? Well check out ccNewsletter.

I installed and configured the component in a matter of minutes and send out my first newsletter to my clients. First change I made was to the example letter the author provides. I uploaded my logo the ccnewsletter directory and replaced the green one in the template.

Next I added my client to the subscribers list. Then I added my info in the configuration section so I would be able to send a test to myself. It went off without a hitch.

There are two options you can include in a newsletter, name and unsubcribe which are self explanatory. So in conclusion this is a very simple, I should say uncomplicated component, which I one of my favorite right from the start.

Safari for Windows

WHOA! I just downloaded Apples' Safari browser for Windows and all I can say is WHOA!

While listening to a few podcasts on iTunes the program notified of an update, so I noticed that there were two programs to select. One was iTunes and the other was Safari. I thought it was a mistake, there's no Safari for Windows, so I selected it too. Guess I need to surf the net a little more.

After installing the program I started going to all the site I'm involved with and sure enough they loaded up faster than I ever seen. Now I don't know if it renders a site as it would appear if I was on a Mac but, looks like it's the next best thing.

Now it's time to check out the settings and visit Apple.com to see about extensions and themes. Give the browser a try, it's free.

SitePoint CSS Reference

Need a great CSS resource site? Look no further than SitePoint CSS Reference.

The web site been out for a while now and is the most comprehensive, easy to understand CSS guide I found online. SitePoint also has a companion book to the site.

Stop by the site, take a look around, then let know what you think.

SEO Friendly Page Titles

Found great YouTube video about selecting a title for your page. Arron Wall, the produce of the video, runs a very successful SEO company and website loaded with excellent information. Enjoy the video. By the way, I'm using a plugin created by Stian Totland, called Plugin for YouTube Videos for Joomla 1.5.
