OpenOffice 3

I've talked about OpenOffice before and now they have produced another great release of their application suite.

First and foremost did I mention that its FREE. There is nothing out that can compare to it. OpenOffice has worldwide support for developers all over the world. There are also free and commercial extensions that make it even more powerful product.

I won't go into all the bells and whistles is offers, you can read about on their site. Stop by OpenOffice and download the latest version I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Political Season is over

Now that the political season is over and I can wind down a bit and get back to normal.

I did enjoy working on the Visconti for Congress site, which by the way is running on Joomla. It gave me the opportunity to try some different components and modules along the way.

First module I used was Shape 5 Image and Content slider, which is one great product. The slider is able to load up to ten images and you can customize the content displayed with each image. I also used their Tell a Friend module, both which are free. Stop by their site and see all thay have to offer.

Another great component was Chronoforms by ChronoEngine. I used it to create the Get involved sign up page. Very good application which I know I will be using a great deal. As a matter of fact my Request Quote page was created using Chronoform.

The photo gallery was made with Phoca Gallery, by a very talented developer from the Czech Republic.

Hebron Historical Society Reboot

This week Hebron Historical Society's site has been rebooted. The site is now running on Joomla 1.5.7 content management system.

The site has much of the same look and feel.  New options are available such as a list of all Online Documents found within each article, Upcoming Events with detailed information about each one and a new Flash driven Hebron Highlights on the homepage.
